ETIAS Travel Authorisation Overview
The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is a mandatory entry requirement for nationals of visa-exempt countries intending to travel to any of the following European destinations:
Participating Countries:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland.
Validity and Passport Linkage:
The ETIAS travel authorisation is electronically linked to the traveller’s passport and remains valid for up to three years, or until the passport expires—whichever occurs first. If a new passport is issued, a new ETIAS authorisation must be obtained.
Entry and Duration of Stay:
A valid ETIAS permits multiple short-term entries into the listed countries, typically allowing stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. However, possession of an ETIAS does not guarantee entry. Upon arrival, border authorities will verify your passport and any supporting documentation to ensure all entry conditions are met.
